3 Baton Rouge officers killed in shooting; suspect dead

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA – Police say a 29-year-old African-American man ambushed and killed three officers and wounded three others in Baton Rouge today.

Today’s police shootings occurred less than two weeks after an African-American man, Alton Sterling, was killed by Baton Rouge police in an altercation that was video recorded and posted on social media – sparking outrage throughout the African-American community who believe he was killed unjustly.

Montrell Jackson, Matthew Gerald and Brad Garafola are the names of the three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers killed in a shootout with Gavin Long – who police killed before learning what prompted his ambush-style attack.
